FANTOM and ROAR Announce Removal of 17.5T FR-1v3R Motor From Approval List

ROAR and Fantom have agreed to remove the 17.5T Fantom FR-1v3R motor (FAN19413) from the list of ROAR approved motors effective 2-28-2019. Production changes to wire diameter were made and resubmitted to ROAR; but upon inspection by ROAR, the wire was found to exceed the maximum allowed diameter of 0.813mm. During the resubmittal process, product was distributed prior to receiving ROAR approval. Inconsistencies in the ROAR policy for proving availability contributed to this early release. Track-side inspection may not be sufficient to deteect those motors with incorrect wire. This action does not apply to the TOUR edition of these motors (FAN19420) which are produced to tighter specifications or to the 17.5T Fantom FR-1v3T version (FAN19414). Fantom appreciates ROAR's cooperation in resolving this situation.
