12-27-07 ROAR Executive Committee Announcement The ROAR Executive Committee would like to announce the newly created position of Assistant Technical Director added to the technical staff. The position was recently filled by appointment of the President of ROAR and we are honored to have Ling Tong as part of our technical staff. Ling brings an expert level of knowledge and experience for lithium polymer batteries. He is currently employed as an engineer in the medical field testing and writing specifications for batteries used in professional equipment. He is an avid racer and has an intimate understanding of racing stresses on batteries electronically and mechanically. Please welcome Ling to the growing list of experts supporting ROAR, our membership and our competitive events. 12-15-07 ROAR Executive Committee Announcement The Executive Committee has accepted the resignation of Mike Queller, ROAR President, effective December 15, due to personal commitments. Dawn Sanchez, ROAR Vice president, will assume the office of President immediately as per ROAR Bylaws. Mike has accepted an important management position in the petrochemical industry that, combined with his continued direction of Speedline, a RC company he founded, makes his time commitment to the ROAR Presidency impossible. 11-20-07 Executive Committee Meeting The November Executive Committee meeting was cancelled because the wildfires in California disrupted airline traffic so badly no one could attend the meeting. Important agenda items are being handled by phone contact and e-mail including the appointment and Executive Committee confirmation of the following new ExCom members to fill vacant positions:

Rick Wilson - Secretary Treasurer Ruben Benitez - Promotions Director Andrew Mowery - Track/Sanctioning Director
Chuck Moon is moving over to fill the position of Competition Director. 10-15-2007 IFMAR Electric Section Chairman Congratulations to Ernie Provetti on his election to IFMAR Electric Section Chairman giving ROAR a significant position within the IFMAR structure. Mr. Provetti replaces Kenny Bergschultz who resigned this position due to personal time commitments earlier this year. While this position stresses an IFMAR viewpoint with regards to changes and issues we have no doubt Mr. Provetti will be impartial and fair in his new IFMAR position in regards to ROAR matters. 08/06/07 REGION DIRECTOR ANNOUNCEMENT REGION DIRECTORS: Please contact Dawn Sanchez at 480 385 8946 or dmsanchez@cox.net regarding bids for national events in your regions. The deadline for bid submission is 8/31/2007 and the bids will be distributed for evaluation immediately after this date. Also, many of you have changed your email addresses and/or contact numbers, please notify Fred Hohwart at administrator@roarracing.com of these changes. Thanks! 05/22/07 Paved Oval Nationals Announcement Dear Oval Racers and those pondering attending the Paved Oval nationals at Carolina RC, Due to the prospected lack of entrys in 1/12th scale, ROAR has enforced rule 12.1.9 which states once a class becomes more a regional participation, the class will be deleted from the national status. We regret this class may have seen busier days and we do hope the interest will renew in the future. With that stated, the ROAR has changed the format and projected race program will now include, for Provisional National Title status only, .09 Pan Car and .12 Pan Car nitro racing. These classes, along with 13.5 BL and Spec Truck are new projects for ROAR in oval racing and we certainly do hope for increased attendance at the event due to some very forward thinking among the oval committee! ROAR feels this is the national event to attend and is very excited at the prospect of so many new classes and choices for oval racing. The program will be:
Controlled practice will have separate times for the electric and nitro racers. Two rounds of qualifying on Friday and Saturday for all classes. The day will start with .12 nitro and end with .09 nitro as these drivers will marshal themselves. Qualifiers will be 4 minutes in length. Mains will be 300 laps for A main in .12 and 75 for .09. B main will be 50 laps. Subsequent mains will be determined as to length by the Race Director at the track. These classes do not have Bump Ups. The mains for these nitro classes will run Saturday night after all qualifying is completed. The remaining mains will all run on Sunday.

As a convenience to the members the latest revision to the rulebook will now be published periodically on the website. Clarifications or corrections will usually be the primary reasons for these revisions. Any changes from the current year printed rulebook will be underlined. Summary of changes made to the February revision: -Track Director title has changed to Sanctioning Director -'DSM' references have bee changed to the generic term, 'DSS' -Rule numbering of sections 9.4.3 and above has been corrected -3.1.7, 4.1.7, 5.15.7, 5.15.8 have been clarified or reworded -8.6.11 has been deleted due to duplication in 8.6.3 -8.9.3.1 weight typo has been corrected 01/20/07 Suspension Rule Change. Effective with the February rulebook, rule 3.1.7 has been changed and will appear in the next revision. ROAR considers membership suspension to be a serious matter and this change was necessary to prevent future circumvention. 3.1.7 No person under suspension by the Executive Committee will be permitted to participate in any event hosted by an affiliated ROAR club or track or be allowed to enter the working pits or race areas of such events. 01/15/07 Title Change. The ROAR Track Director position on the Executive Committee has been re-titled to better fit its performance duties. This position will now be known as the ROAR Sanctioning Director, the position currently occupied by Chuck Moon. This title change will appear in the upcoming revisions to the ROAR Rulebook and the National Guidelines. 01/14/07 Corrected 1/12 Weight. A typographical error occurred in the 2007 rulebook concerning 1/12 weights for 4 cell cars. The previous 6 cell weight had been entered in error. While there is still a discrepancy with regard to IFMAR's weight rule ROAR's minimum 4 cell weight has not changed and remains 794g.
